Enjoy our Snowshoeing Getaway Weekend package for couples, women, or for anyone who would like to visit this beautiful region. Once you arrive at our Adventure Resort we’ll get you settled in your cozy log cabin where you can relax by the wood fire and take in the majestic views of 8,000 foot mountains and the scenery around you. If you like, our Tour Guide will take you for a short Tour of the Highlights of the Lower Bella Coola Valley and out to view the Ocean Fjords before dinner. That evening enjoy a Prime Rib Dinner with Yorkshire pudding, Caesar salad and all the trimmings served in the Norwegian Heritage House. After dinner we’ll discuss the activities for the following day around the Lava Rock Firepit as we enjoy a couple of hot drinks in the 80' diameter Cedar Log Gazebo.
Then … its off to the privacy of your own Luxurious Log Cabin whenever you are ready to turn in. The next morning we are up early for a breakfast of Eggs Benedict and Fruit before we head east up Valley to drive up the famous "Bella Coola Hill." We make our way up the Hill to the top of Heckman Pass for some sunshine, fresh air, and quality snow shoeing through the woods as you enjoy nature and getting a day of healthy exercise snowshoeing. During the day we’ll stop for a trailside lunch of Bella Coola Smoked Salmon, Bagels and Cream Cheese and Hot Wine and enjoy the beautiful sunshine and surroundings.
At the end of the day we head back to Bella Coola Grizzly Resort for a Barbequed Halibut dinner with all the trimmings … head to the campfire in the Gazebo … and then after your long day turn in for a lovely sleep in your queen size Sleigh Bed. On Sunday morning relax and sleep in before breakfast and your noon departure back home. OPTIONAL: Ask about staying an extra day so you can take the private Helicopter Charter to the Hot Springs Kimsquit Valley The Kimsquit Valley is located at the extreme head of the Dean Channel the longest Inlet on the Central Coast. Given the Kimsquit is so far inland this watershed offers ideal habitat for both the Coastal and Interior wildlife. This remote area is home to some of the largest Grizzly Bears in the world. Big Mature Boars will weigh in at over 1000 pounds and live to be 20 or 30 years old.
These Large Omnivores feed heavily in the Spring and Summer on new grass, tender chutes and roots of the Coastal Rain Forest. We view the feeding Grizzlies on the tide flats, meadows and slide areas a safe distance away while they graze on their greens. The Summer and Fall brings the Spawning Pacific Salmon back to the rivers and estuaries of the Central Coast. These protein rich fish are the life line for the Coastal Grizzly Bears and many other smaller species. Learn first hand the biology and life cycle of Wild Pacific Salmon and what they require to survive. We observe family units of Grizzly bears while they fish for Salmon in the rivers and creeks. It is quite a sight to behold to see these large Grizzlies chasing down the salmon in the spawning beds.
The Kimsquit Valley has the highest concentration of Grizzly Bears on the Central Coast and is abundant with other wildlife as well. Black Bears, Wolves, Deer, Moose, Bald Eagles, Swans, Blue Herons, Canada Geese, Ducks, Loons, Seals and River Otters are some of the species that inhabit this remote Coastal Valley. Should you require a Guide to accompany you to access the Kimsquit we would be happy to provide our services.
